The SPCA does some amazing work on behalf of our animal friends all over the globe. They have many wonderful programs, one of which helps both animals and people. Imagine being a soldier on the battlefield and finding comfort and friendship in a dog. Then imagine knowing that you will have to leave that dog behind, in awful conditions. Operation Baghdad Pups provides veterinary care and coordinates complicated logistics and transportation requirements in order to reunite these beloved pets with their service men and women back in the U.S.A. With the work that the SPCA does, soldiers who connect with animals in war zones, often get the chance to reconnect with them when they return home from service.

We think this is an amazing mission! Get a tissue handy, because this video will touch your hearts.

And just a note to all you cat lovers out there, they have rescued cats as well! See all the success stories here.

They sure can get happy and excited, even over the littlest things!

Is there anything better than a happy dog? One look at their excited faces, wagging tails, and smiling eyes is enough to melt even the hardest of hearts. Now, some of the most joyous and adorable family dogs can be seen in what is sure to be the most “Awww”-inspiring book of the holiday season: DogJoy: The Happiest Dogs in the Universe.

From the editors of THE BARK magazine, DogJoy: The Happiest Dogs in the Universe is a collection of 300 of the very best full-color pics from the pack! Each entry features either a personal tale or a hilarious caption—but the real story is all in the photos themselves.

Whether you love the Laughers, Giggler, Sweeties, or one of the many other categories of joyful dogs featured in this book, it will be hard to choose your favorite.

We got a chance to see a copy of the book and love it! There are some truly funny photos inside, and all of them made us smile big. Of course we were particularly fond of the smiling dogs who had been rescued, but they were all so cute it would be hard to pick a favorite. We think it would be a perfect gift for the animal lover in your life. Doesn’t everyone need a bit more joy?

Enter to win! One lucky reader will get a copy of Dog Joy! Just leave a comment on this post telling us a story of how your dog shows joy. The giveaway will close at midnight on December 1st. You may enter daily until the giveaway ends. The winner will be chosen at random and contacted by email, so be sure your email address is correct in the comment form.

*this giveaway is now closed, congrats to Lorri*
