Some great things around the internet this week:
- Wicked Local does a little musical experiment involving his dogs. Watch the clip and judge for yourself which music makes his pets happy.
- This undercover investigation revealed some horrible treatment of downed cows. The video is a bit much to take honestly, it’s always shocking that people can be capable of such awful acts, but the article is very important.
- Best Friends can finally talk about the special dogs they received from the Michael Vick case. They have decided to call them the Vicktory Dogs!
- If you live in Utah, please contact your senator about Henry’s Law. Let’s make sure it passes this time around!
- Purina has a fun website, you can make your own video in a Mad Libs kind of fashion. It’s really fun! Visit “Poops, I did it again” to find out more and have some fun.
- There is a great website called PetSide.com, they have a lot of great information like this article about how second hand smoke affects pets. What I love the most though is their Pet Vet feature (it’s a lot like a WebMd, but for pets!).
- And last but not least, DoggieMai (and KittyMail) is back and better than ever for Valentines Day. From February 1- February 14th, Purina will donate 50 cents to rescue shelters for each mail sent.

Animal news and fun from around the web.
- Terry Irwin is launching a whale study mission to debunk the myth about needing to kill whales to study them.
- Animal Planet is teaming up with Petfinder.com to have a reality show. This show will help match pets with families, and help spread the word about rescue.
- Animal Planet has a cute blog called the Daily Cuddle. As you can imagine from the title, it features an adorable animal photo everyday.
- Wayne Pacelle of the Humane Society wrote an interesing article about a hoax website. Thank goodness the site is a hoax, but it does expose a very real, and sad, problem.
- Therapy dogs are being deployed to Iraq. The Poodle and Dog Blog has the full scoop.
- This website, PETA Kills Animals, has a lot of interesting information. I had heard a report that they were charged with killing and dumping strays in garbage bins behind bigger businesses, but it looks like they are up to a lot more than just that. It’s worth checking out.
- Some of the victims in the Micheal Vick case have a happy ending. 22 of 47 dogs arrived at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary on the 4th of January. You can read the full story on their website, and find out how you can help them with their great work.
- More news from Best Friends; they have teamed up with the National Geographic Channel to make a TV serires called Dogtown. It’s all about the work they do at the sanctuary, and will hopefully give their organization more exposure and help them help more animals.
And just to remind you of the wild animals we should try to save, here is an adorable photo of a baby panda!
