RL logo_GREEN BLKWith the holidays right around the corner, the kitchen is bound to be even busier than usual. In our house, the kitchen is always the hub of activity. And with so many people visiting, and cooking, it’s not always the safest place for a dog!

However, Baby always wants to be right in the middle of it all. I can’t tell you all the close calls that have happened in the kitchen. From almost stepping on her, to dangerous things dropping next to her (chocolate, knives, etc), it is not the place we want her to be. For a long time we have wanted an attractive way to keep her out of the kitchen, luckily the Premium Plus Freestanding Pet Gate with Door exists!

We were really excited when the gate arrived. We couldn’t wait to get it set up and put it to use. Baby had other ideas though, she must have known somehow that this gate was going to keep her out of the kitchen. She made sure it wasn’t easy to open that box!

Of course, once she got off the box, she had to snoop around a bit. It was VERY easy to get set up, all that needed to be done was to add the legs (just a screwdriver did the trick)!

This gate is recommended for dogs between about 6 and 33 pounds. What we love about the gate is that you can configure it in different ways. The side panels of the gate lock into place, so you can easily adjust it to fit into different parts of your home.

Another awesome feature of the gate is that it has a door, making it easy for the humans (and dog if you want) to go in and out of the gate. We love this because there are times when nothing is happening in the kitchen other than visiting with people, so Baby can still easily be a part of that.

Richell Pet GateIt looks so sharp in our kitchen too! I will note, this is a VERY nice gate. It is made of eco-friendly, sustainable rubberwood, and is a great color. The feet have rubber feet to help protect your floors, and add stability to the gate.

Baby isn’t in love with it, as you can see she likes to give us sad eyes when she has to be on the other side of the gate. We on the other hand can’t imagine life without it! It’s been so wonderful to have the peace of mind that comes from being able to keep Baby out of places we don’t want her to be. There are so many uses for a gate like this too, and the kitchen is just one of them.

Pet Halloween costumes from EntirelyPets

If you love Halloween, chances are you like to include your pets in the fun! Luckily there are a lot of great costume options for pets at EntirelyPets. We had a lot of fun picking out some costumes for our review, as you can see below, there are some REALLY cute options! Quick note, although Baby loves wearing clothing, she hates wearing things on her head.

babybee

This bee costume is the cutest thing ever. The dress is adorable, easy to put on, and the costume comes with cute little antennas too. The dress has Velcro in the front (the belly part of the dog) so it doesn’t have to go over the head. Did you see the fun tulle skirt? And those wings? Adorable!

minionbaby

Or perhaps you would rather dress your pet as a little Minion?! Again, the costume came with a fun head piece, complete with goggles and Minion eyes. Oh I wish we could have gotten her to keep it on long enough for a photo, you will just have to see the Minion costume on the site to get the full effect.

Does your dog enjoy dressing up for Halloween or other holidays? Halloween is sure to be a treat with all the fun costume options for pets. Visit EntirelyPets to see their full selection of costumes and toys.

Dogs Rule, Nonchalantly

Dogs Rule, NonchalantlyHappy National Dog Day friends! Although, if you have a dog you already know that everyday is national dog day!

Dogs Rule, Nonchalantly is a lovely book full of art and words that celebrate everything that is awesome about dogs. Indeed, dogs do rule!

The book was created by renown illustrator Mark Ulriksen, best known for his work for The New Yorker, where he has been a regular contributor since 1993, with more than 40 magazine covers to his credit.

Mark’s paintings of dogs doing what dogs do best will delight anyone who loves animals. The truths about dogs will also make you smile. One of my favorites was about how dogs are always happy, until you try to leave without them. Boy isn’t that the truth?

I also loved this one, because I have always lived by the belief that dogs do indeed deserve to be quiet spoiled.

Dogs should be spoiled

This is a truly charming book that any dog (or animal lover) will enjoy. Be sure to pre-order your copy of Dogs Rule Nonchalantly now, and maybe pick up a few extras for holiday gift giving too!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review. Truly I have fallen in love with it, regardless of getting it for free.

Sophia Maxim Design for the discerning dog owner.

It’s always great to learn of new dog products, especially when they are made in the USA! We were introduced to Sophia Maxim Design recently and fell in love. Not only are the collars gorgeous, the tag is too! The tag is also pretty genius, as it goes onto the collar!

Sophia Maxim Design Collars

The owner, Dawn Grana, started Sophia Maxim Design about a year ago when her dog, Max (a rescue), snagged his dangling collar on her berber rug and couldn’t get loose. Luckily, she was at home and able to free him immediately but she obviously wondered what would have happened if she wasn’t home. Dawn, being the enthusiastic dog lover, decided that she wanted to help make a difference in the lives of furry friends. Not just her own, but the lives of all dogs.

Unfortunately, Baby wasn’t feeling like a photo shoot this day. In fact, all she wanted to do was have a nap. The collar looked really cute on her. I did get a few shots before she konked out, but since she was a bit fluffy (and on the move), they just weren’t that great. I decided to show off the collar on a ceramic bunny instead.

What I loved most aside from the quality and design of the collar was the huggable tag! No more clinking her tag on her water bowl or dish. No more worry about her tag getting stuck!

Huggable designs come in Silver, Bronze (the two Original Fine Jewelry Tags), Nickel, and Black Nickel (the two Everyday Collection Tags) and slide easily onto Sophia Maxim Design collars. All collars are ribbon based and backed onto durable nylon webbing that is tough and attractive.

They also offer an Everyday Style Set that includes a nickel or black nickel tag and a coordinating collar and leash! Be sure to see all the gorgeous designs for your dog by visiting the Sophia Maxim Design website.

Disclosure: I received a collar and huggable tag for review purposes. As always, opinions are my own.
