Halloween Costumes

Filed Under (random tidbits, reviews) by Aimee on 31-07-2008

I know it’s a bit early to be thinking about Halloween, but it is one of my favorite holidays. At least I am not quiet as bad as someone I know who starts decorating in August! Costumes are my favorite part of the holiday, so I start my planning early for what I want to dress up as. And to be honest, we even dress our sweet Maltese, Baby, in costumes for Halloween.

Look at this cute “watch dog” costume from InCostume.com! I think it’s cute and a clever play on words too. They also have a lot of great human costumes as well, something that I am considering is the “couples costumes“! I think it would be a hoot to go as Fred and Wilma Flinstone! It’s too bad they don’t have a Pebbles costume for our little dog, then we would be a complete Flinstone family for Halloween!

What about you? Do you enjoy dressing up for Halloween? Do you dress your pets in Halloween costumes? What has been your favorite Halloween costume?

Dog of the Day!

Baby is the dog of the day today on Dogster.com. She would like to welcome any of her doggy pals from Dogster who found this site through her page there! This website is about animals, and a lot of it is thanks to submissions from pet owners, and especially animal rescue groups! So, if you have a good story to share, please feel free to send it our way!

Holiday Weekend

This is just a reminder to keep your pets safe during the holiday weekend. There are a lot of fun activities on the 4th of July, but some of them aren’t so fun for pets. Fireworks can be really scary and dangerous too, so be sure to take extra care around pets (it’s best to keep them inside).

Here are some more great 4th of July pet safety tips from the ASPCA.

Have a happy and safe weekend!

Our sweet, sick, pup.

Our poor little Maltese, Baby, sure has been going through a rough time the past 6 months. Around Christmas time Baby started to have blood in her stools. Of course we all panicked and took her to the vet. The vet didn’t seem too worried, but they ran a bunch of tests just to rule out a parasite or a blockage. The tests all came back looking great (well, they did discover that she has major problems with her hips during the x-rays, something they weren’t even looking for).

At any rate, we cook her a special diet at home (for her liver) and her diet hasn’t changed at all, so we don’t suspect it’s what she is eating. She was treated with steroids, but it didn’t keep it from happening. She will go for a few weeks without any trouble, but then it seems to always come back (and it seems painful, she has a hard time trying to get it all out and goes several times an hour).

I know this is all kind of gross, but we sure could use any help or advice you can offer. We plan to take her to another vet for a second opinion, but we don’t really want to subject her to all of those tests again if we can avoid it. Something needs to be done though, this really can’t be normal for her.

Surf’s up pup!

This little dog bed is just too cute! It’s a woody, the classic car that all surfers just love. And what pup wouldn’t love to ride to dreamland in one of these? I just think it’s adorable. It could be a great gift for a car lover, a surfer, or anyone else with a pup who already has everything.

Playing catch up!

Thank you to all who have written lately. I am very excited to share with you all some awesome books and product reviews in the near future. I am going to be a little behind though because this week my dad was in the hospital with a stroke (he is home now and doing great), and of course that kept us all very busy and worried. I have also had a fairly bad cold on top of it. Not much time for blogging!

So, if you have written recently, please be assured that I have read your mail and will get back to you just as soon as things calm down. Thank you!
