Two giant pandas made their way from China to ZooParc de Beauval in France today. FedEx Express donated services to transport the giant pandas in a special plane named the “FedEx Panda Express”! The pandas, three year old female Huan Huan and three year old male panda Yuan Zi, will be the first giant pandas in more than 10 years to be in France.

“The arrival of Huan Huan and Yuan Zi is a historic eventfor ZooParc de Beauval, marking the accomplishment of a great collaboration with China and a lifelong commitment to animals and their protection. It has been our dream for a long time and we have been looking forward to this moment for five years now, since the Zoo first embarked on this epic journey to bring giant pandas to France,” said Françoise Delord, founder and President of ZooParc de Beauval. “Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to create a world-class enclosure to house our newest additions, which will offer visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view these extraordinary animals”.

Currently, conservationists estimate that only 1,600 pandas remain in the wild. Both Huan Huan and Yuan Zi are part of global giant panda conservation programs, designed to increase the panda population.

Paco Sosa, New York City’s oldest dog, is the subject of a new film called Wolf Dog. Paco, who passed away last year, will be doing helping animals, even after his passing, through sharing his true story as an animal celebrity! When the film is finished, it will be used to support animal causes.

The filmmakers have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to help raise money so they can finish the film. Wolf Dog, is the story of Paco Sosa and his owner Bernadine’s journey to New Mexico to help him find his peace. Made with the participation of an Emmy- and Oscar-winning/nominated crew and with the collaboration of U2, Wolf Dog is guaranteed to be loved by all pet owners.

In order to finish the film the filmmakers need to raise money to pay for the music, color and sound mixing, and animation.
Such happy news from Joplin! The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) and Joplin Humane Society successfully found permanent homes for 745 pets during its weekend adopt-a-thon event on June 25 and 26. More than 5,700 people from 24 states rolled into Joplin, Mo. to adopt hundreds of animals in the aftermath of last month’s devastating tornado. Just watch the video above to get an idea of what a great event this really was! It makes me so happy to know that so many pet lovers wanted to help find these animals homes!

“We’re completely floored by the amazing outpouring of support,” said Joplin native Tim Rickey, the ASPCA’s senior director of Field Investigations and Response. “Thanks to the generosity of these wonderful people, the animals left homeless by last month’s tornado are sleeping in new beds tonight.”

Stay tuned to www.aspca.org/blog and @ASPCA on Twitter for stories and photos of hundreds of happy endings in the coming days.
