Purina Pets at Work Program

This post is sponsored by Purina. As always, 4 the Love of Animals only shares information that we support. All opinions and statements are our own.

Happy dog at the Purina office.Pets spend so much time waiting for their people to come back from work. And of course, we miss our pets when we go to the office all day too! If you work at Purina you and your pet are very lucky! More than 17 years ago, Nestle Purina started encouraging its associates to bring their pets to work and the program has provided many benefits for employees and their pets through the years.

The pet-care industry leader celebrated national Take Your Dog to Work Day (June 26) by encouraging other companies to join them in this movement and start their own pets at work policy. Purina went all out, planning a day of fun-filled activities for employees and pets at the Purina headquarters in St. Louis, highlighted by an attempt to set a World Record for ‘Most Pets in the Workplace in One Day’!

Record set for "Most Pets At Work"

The day-long event included performances by the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Team, pet check-ups by veterinarians, pet photographs by a professional pet photographer and a “Yappy Hour” with ice cream and Frosty Paws cold treats for associates and their pets. Sounds like the best day of the year if you ask me!

Purina Pets at Work logoPurina is encouraging employers across the nation to take the Pets at Work pledge and help advocate for pet-friendly offices. It’s not just the pets who benefit, the people do too! In a recent survey by Purina and the Mississippi State University College of Veterinarian Medicine, we found among 750 U.S. respondents:

  • Almost two out of three employees agree pets should be allowed in the workplace if there is a general consensus among employees.
  • 85 percent of employees of companies with pets in the office say that pets at work policies are beneficial.
  • 72 percent of employees said that their jobs currently do not allow pets in the workplace o More than half of those who want pets allowed in the office are willing to spearhead efforts to make their workplaces pet-friendly

Does your workplace allow pets all the time? Did you get to celebrate Take Your Dog to Work Day this year?

If you want to learn more about starting a pet friendly policy in your office, be sure to visit Pets at Work for helpful information. Once there, you can download a toolkit for employees and employers, share your pets at work story, and see a lot of adorable pets hard at work with their people.

The Hearing Ranges of Animals

Regardless of whether you’re hard of hearing or have perfect hearing (for a human), this infographic will show you that – whilst us humans are a talented bunch for the most part – our hearing doesn’t compare in the slightest to some creatures out there.

The pitch of a sound is measured in Hertz (Hz) frequency, with the smaller frequencies being lower notes and higher frequencies being the opposite; higher pitched notes.

Family Comedy RESCUE DOGS Finds its Four Legs

Rescue Dogs movie star ChargerA first of its kind family comedy, RESCUE DOGS features real rescue animals in the starring roles of this kid-friendly narrative feature. A heartwarming story about how rescue animals can sometimes return the favor by saving their owners with their unconditional love and care, RESCUE DOGS is aimed to make audiences laugh and smile, but also make a difference to animal rescues nationwide. The production team has agreed to donate a significant portion of their proceeds from the film to select partner rescue organizations across the country. “From the time we joined this film, we knew it would not only be a great indie-kids film, but also a remarkable chance to raise awareness and money for animal rescues,” says Dan Cunningham, President of Busted Buggy Entertainment. “It’s a fun, simple film that can make a big difference.”

The film features dynamic comedy performances from its non-four-legged cast including up-and-comer Courtney Daniels, Paul Haapaniemi, and Jordan Rawlins. Rawlins is also the creator and writer of the screenplay. The project is helmed by co-directors Michael J. Anderson and Haik Katsikian.

Principle photography is complete and the edit for RESCUE DOGS is well underway. Currently the producers and co-directors are engaging talent to voice the furry rescue leads and anticipating those cast announcements over the next month. “So many great actors and celebrities have a passion for rescuing animals. By reserving a few of the voiceover roles from the beginning, we have the opportunity to offer those actors the chance to be a part of this film and make a difference,” says Cunningham.

In planning the release of the film, currently slated for October, Busted Buggy Entertainment is engaging rescue organizations nationwide, as well as pet brands that are focused on helping rescue animals. Announcements of these partnerships and benefiting charities are expected to begin early in the summer. For more information about the film find them on at

Dancing Party Animals

Dancing Party AnimalsDancing Party Animals are cute dancing animals (with a speaker) that connect to your favorite music playing device! Plug in your music, and watch them start to move and groove. They will dance until the music stops.

They have a lot of fun animals to choose from. We were sent a dancing cat and a dancing dog. One alone is a lot of fun, but watching them dance together was even more fun! We used a splitter to hook them both up to the same iPod! It was fun when they would do the same move at the same time. I tried to catch it on video:

They come with the audio cable so you can get started right away! They don’t come with batteries, but only take 3 AA. You can also use a power adapter (not included) if you don’t want to use batteries.

The sound isn’t bad for a little speaker. Of course the real fun is watching them boogie to the beat. And if you just want to listen to music through the speaker, you can do that too! Just turn the dance function off.

They would make a fun gift for a young animal lover!

*We were provided with Dancing Party Animals in exchange for our review.*

Beneful Unleashed the 2014 Dream Dog Park!

Christmas came early for the dog-loving community of Prescott, Arizona, today as Beneful® unleashed the $500,000 Dream Dog Park renovation of Willow Creek Dog Park. The fire-station themed renovation marks the fourth half million dollar dog park transformation by the dog food brand.

Inspired by local resident and Beneful Dream Dog Park Contest Grand Prize Winner Linda Nichols’ contest entry, the $500,000 renovation of Willow Creek Dog Park transformed the park into a fire station-themed paradise complete with a red fire truck play area, fire hose shaped tunnels and a covered firehouse lounge area with tables for dog owners to enjoy.

“We know some of the best moments are those spent with our four-legged friends, and the importance of sharing a healthy and happy life together,” said Brent Gleckler, Beneful brand director. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the passion shown by dog owners across the country in the Dream Dog Park Contest, and we’re thrilled to unveil our fourth Dream Dog Park in Prescott.”

The Beneful Dream Team, consisting of Jason Cameron, licensed contractor and host of three popular TV shows –“Desperate Landscapes,” “Man Caves” and “Sledgehammer” – and national pet expert Arden Moore, brought the park to life; with Cameron managing the renovation and Moore overseeing the project from a dog’s point of view, ensuring all elements are stimulating and safe for all four legged buddies.

At the special unveiling event, Cameron and Moore joined Grand Prize Winner, Linda Nichols, her dog Callie, Beneful brand representatives, Prescott City Officials, and hundreds of two- and four-legged guests to celebrate the first day of play in the newly transformed one-of-a-kind park.

“The City of Prescott has always been a dog-loving town, and the transformation of Willow Creek Dog Park is a dream come true,” says City of Prescott Mayor Marlin Kuykendall. “We are so grateful to Beneful for bringing this awe-inspiring renovation to our community, and to Linda Nichols for sharing her passion for her best buddy and our city in her contest entry.”

Nichols was among more than one thousand dog owners who entered the 2013 Beneful Dream Dog Park Contest, and she was one of fourteen finalists to advance to the final round. The finalist entries were then judged by the Beneful Dream Team and those scores, along with public voting, determined the Grand Prize Winner.
