A dolphin baby boom is happening at Discovery Cove, with four dolphins giving birth in the past month. The name and gender of the calves will be determined shortly, usually within a month after birth. Discovery Cove is an all-inclusive family adventure where guests enjoy a one-of-a-kind opportunity to swim with dolphins, snorkel with rays and tropical fish, hand-feed exotic birds and relax on pristine beaches. Discovery Cove has been on our “to visit” list since I first read about it! Check out the fun video of the dolphins:

It’s important for kitten owners to recognize how impressionable these animals are and arm themselves with tools and expert advice to ensure their kittens the best start in life.

In order to raise a well adjusted kitten to become a healthy, happy and well-mannered adult cat, it is best if owners prepare themselves for their new pet. This includes Kitten-proofing their household, slowly introducing resident pets, determining the best way to manage children and kitten interactions and coordinating a plan for litter box training.

These tips and more are covered in a series of 13 webisodes dubbed the “The Kitten Connection.” These videos are designed to provide kitten owners tips, tricks, and advice that allow them to make the most out of the lives they share with their kittens. Certified Veterinary Behaviorist Dr. Karen Sueda guides owners through easy steps to help enrich their relationships with their kittens and create foundations for many years to come.

More information can also be found at www.kittenchow.com, produced for Nestle Purina Petcare Company.

A funny, heart-warming video called “SMILE,” developed by “I’m Tired of” (ITo), the makers of the popular “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” bracelet, which raises money for animal rights and rescue charities, has reached viral levels.

The video is a collection of photos of dogs and cats, who appear to be smiling, set to music.” ITo developed “SMILE” to draw attention to the need to rescue animals from shelters, support animal rescue organizations and stop animal cruelty. It was done in conjunction with its charity beneficiary for the “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” bracelets, Best Friends Animal Society.

“We had a lot of fun creating this piece, because you can’t help smiling yourself when you see it, but we never expected it to have this kind of reach,” said Dan Hoffman, co-founder of ITo. “The top two reasons we now get for how customers hear about us is ‘from a friend, co-worker or relative’ or ‘saw the SMILE video.’ We wanted to bring attention to the terrible abuse and neglect of animals, but in a positive way, without showing dogs and cats beaten or in cages. People have responded incredibly well to our approach.”

The “I’m Tired of” campaign is a labor of love for Hoffman and his sister, Carrie Pollare. These $10 eco friendly bracelets, made from recycled tires and metal, are currently raising money for 12 different causes, including animal cruelty, breast cancer, diabetes, world hunger, global warming and autism. “The most important part is that we donate half our sales ($5 per bracelet) to the charities we are aligned with,” Hoffman explained.

Hoffman pointed out that the company also has a program for smaller animal rescue organizations, which can buy the “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” bracelets for $5 each and keep the additional $5 for their own organizations. “This program is totally taking off because there are so many charities looking for easy and inexpensive ways to raise money, especially in these tough economic times. The bracelets are a natural to sell at events and on their websites.” He noted that ITo is also about to introduce “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” t-shirts, as well, later this month, which will sell for $36 and $18 per shirt will go to charity.
