Saturday marks “100 Days to the Republican National Convention,” and preparations are already underway at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

Earlier this week, Busch Gardens’ elephant team added some “colorful” enrichment to the elephants’ day by making “elephant footprints” with non-toxic children’s poster paint at the park’s new Elephant Interaction Wall. The unique prints will be framed and shared with special guests and members of the media who visit Busch Gardens during the RNC.

As one of the largest zoos in North America, Busch Gardens offers its more than 2,000 animals various forms of enrichment that are different, unusual and challenging to the animals’ regular routine. Food, toys and other interactions are used daily by zookeepers to keep the animals engaged and stimulated, both mentally and physically.

Cat Boredom: it’s not a disease; it’s way more boring than that.

More than 40 percent of cat owners say their cats are bored some or most of the time, and 25 percent agree their cats are bored regularly. These alarming statistics led Friskies to fight the Cat Boredom epidemic with Friskies cat treats. Concerned cat owners may join the movement at Facebook.com/Friskies.

“It’s time for an intervention,” says Jessica Grote, Friskies Marketing Associate. “Friskies is taking a stand to end Cat Boredom, also known as CB. The survey confirmed that nearly half of cat owners are looking for ways to add excitement to their cats’ lives. It’s time for Friskies cat treats to help our furry little friends and put an end to Cat Boredom once and for all. We hope cat owners nationwide will seek “treat”-ment and join the fight with us.”

To educate cat owners and recruit others to join in the fight to end Cat Boredom, Friskies released a variety of information about the CB problem and its solution – Friskies cat treats. The most moving piece is a video public service announcement depicting many bored cats that haven’t yet discovered the solution. The playful video features a well-known actor and comedian.

Additional tools for the fight are available at Facebook.com/Friskies, including videos, games and surprise giveaways exclusively for Friskies’ Facebook fans.

We were glued to the TV when Discovery Chanel was airing Frozen Planet, and we have been even more enthralled now that we have the entire collection on DVD (they also have it in Blu-Ray).

We have loved seeing places that few people ever get to see, and learning about the interesting wildlife that lives there. We watched in amazement as a furry caterpillar froze and thawed each year until finally becoming a moth at age 14!

We loved seeing penguins, whales, polar bears, and wolves. Truly a series for any animal lover, but more than that, it’s an amazing look at our planet.

The 3 disc set includes many special features:

• On Thin Ice – A unique exploration into how climate change is affecting the animals and people of the polar regions and what that might mean for the rest of us.
• Science at the Ends of the Earth – An examination of the remarkable scientific work being performed at the South Pole.
• Freeze Frame – A series of 6 10-minute “making of” featurettes, one for each episode.
• Production Video Diaries – A set of 47 video shorts made by the Frozen Planet producers, directors, camera crew and more giving personal insights into this remarkable series.
• Frozen Planet: The Epic Journey – The best moments from this remarkable series compiled into one 60-minute highlights special.

The behind the scenes video is just as amazing as the series itself. To see what they had to go through to get the footage gives an entirely new perspective to the end result. Some of it is quiet funny as well. We loved it when the penguins jumped out of the water, and right onto a camera man!

We have 2 copies of the series to share with 2 lucky readers!
