Rock & Rawhide, the charity that helps increase adoption levels of dogs and cats in shelters, announced today that it is included in Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C)’s latest advertising campaign, “New York’s Kindest” for their donations and assistance in increasing adoption levels through distraction therapy.
The campaign encourages New Yorkers to support their city shelter by adopting, volunteering and donating to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals. The ads, featuring AC&C adopters, volunteers, and donors with the cats and dogs they love, will appear on subway platforms, in subway cars, in local publications and online.
Rock & Rawhide has been working with the city facilities to help increase awareness and adoption rates since their founding in late 2011. The charity’s efforts have included promotions through media partners, donation drive promotion and direct donations of toys, blankets, and related items.
“What better way to exemplify the success of, and further need for, support from the public than to spotlight those who have made a difference?,” says Sean-Patrick M. Hillman, Co-Founder, Chairman and President of Rock & Rawhide.
“Working with Animal Care and Control has been a fantastic experience for us. Helping them to realize the dream of absolute adoption is what we are all about and we look forward to more exciting programs with them,” continued Hillman.
As the only organization in New York City whose doors are open to any animal in need, AC&C rescues thousands of New York’s homeless, neglected, abused and abandoned animals each year. The nonprofit’s goal is to place every dog, cat and bunny in a new, loving home. But, as the new campaign underscores, the public’s involvement is key to its success.
To mark the launch of the campaign, AC&C is offering a “Be one of New York’s Kindest” adoption special. From February 25 through the end of March, the adoption fee will be just $20 for cats and rabbits, and $50 for dogs. All AC&C adoptions include vaccinations, a microchip, spay or neuter, one month of free pet health insurance and a free office visit at a participating veterinarian.
“Those who adopt an animal, volunteer to walk dogs or spend time with cats, or donate – whether it’s a financial contribution or toys and blankets – truly make a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned pets, says Risa Weinstock, interim executive director. “They are New York’s Kindest.” “With increased support from the New York City community, we can save more lives.”
Additional participants featured in the campaign include adopter Al Carson and his best friend Soldier; the Richards family, who adopted their dog Leo from AC&C’s Brooklyn Care Center last December; Vineshia Whitaker and her adopted cat Cowboy; Alanna Nuala and her adopted cat Banjo; Tanya Turgeon, who was inspired to volunteer by her own dog Elsie.
About Rock & Rawhide
Rock & Rawhide aims to increase adoptions and quality of life for dogs and cats in shelters, by providing distraction therapy and noise/stress reduction through the donations of toys, tough chew items, Kongs, Nylabones, bones, rawhides, blankets and more. If a dog is chewing, it’s not barking! If a cat is playing, it’s not meowing! Less noise = less stress. In turn, dogs and cats can pass their evaluations at shelters, and show more of their personality, making them more adoptable. We collect items through regular donations, music gigs, visual art shows, culinary events, DJ events, drop box programs, and more.
