These Chicken dog treats are full of flavor and nutrition for your best friend. Add a few of the suggested natural ingredients to turn it into a delicious nutritional supplement.
Easy Chicken Dog Cookies
Formulated by Melody McKinnon exclusively for 4TheLoveOfAnimals.com
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (or flour substitute)
1/4 cup pureed sweet potato
1 TBSP extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup unseasoned chicken drippings
1 egg
1 TBSP plain yogurt
Dash of fine sea salt
Optional Natural Supplements: 1/8 tsp of powdered seaweed, spirulina, bonemeal, or calcium montmorillonite clay. Optional Decoration: Press small pieces of freeze-dried chicken into top before baking. You can use fresh chicken but it will greatly reduce the shelf life.
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
Roll out on floured surface to 1/4 inch.
Dip cookie cutter* into flour before cutting each shape.
Brush top with beaten egg.
Bake until golden brown (approximately 30 minutes).
These treats will last for up to a month in the fridge and up to six months in the freezer. Storing treats in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed bag preserves them for much longer and better maintains nutrient content.
*Use pet-theme cookie cutters for gifts, fundraising or sale! Enter the contest for a chance to win a $50 Bake-It & Take-It sampler that includes everything you need to make and move fun dog, cat, or bird treats.
