4 The Love of Animals

Celebrating the bonds between people and animals!

By

Frozen Planet

We were glued to the TV when Discovery Chanel was airing Frozen Planet, and we have been even more enthralled now that we have the entire collection on DVD (they also have it in Blu-Ray).

We have loved seeing places that few people ever get to see, and learning about the interesting wildlife that lives there. We watched in amazement as a furry caterpillar froze and thawed each year until finally becoming a moth at age 14!

We loved seeing penguins, whales, polar bears, and wolves. Truly a series for any animal lover, but more than that, it’s an amazing look at our planet.

The 3 disc set includes many special features:

On Thin Ice – A unique exploration into how climate change is affecting the animals and people of the polar regions and what that might mean for the rest of us.
Science at the Ends of the Earth – An examination of the remarkable scientific work being performed at the South Pole.
Freeze Frame – A series of 6 10-minute “making of” featurettes, one for each episode.
Production Video Diaries – A set of 47 video shorts made by the Frozen Planet producers, directors, camera crew and more giving personal insights into this remarkable series.
Frozen Planet: The Epic Journey – The best moments from this remarkable series compiled into one 60-minute highlights special.

The behind the scenes video is just as amazing as the series itself. To see what they had to go through to get the footage gives an entirely new perspective to the end result. Some of it is quiet funny as well. We loved it when the penguins jumped out of the water, and right onto a camera man!

We have 2 copies of the series to share with 2 lucky readers!
