Top Chef Alum Carmen Gonzalez (Bravo’s “Top Chef Masters” Season 2) has created a pet-friendly “Sweet Potato Chip” recipe to show her support for Rock & Rawhide!

Chef Carmen and her faithful friend, Jeter – a 5 year old white toy poodle (and yes he is a rescue!) – snuggle up before a Rock & Rawhide fundraiser.
Chef Carmen created an easy, holiday recipe for dog treats exclusively for Rock & Rawhide! If you aren’t familiar with the organization, you will want to get to know them! Their mission is to reduce stress and increase adoptions for dogs and cats in shelters. They do this by providing toys and other items that serve as a form of occupational therapy. We think that totally rocks!
Named after her own dog (Jeter), “Jeter’s Favorite Sweet Potato Chips” can be made for your own dog or you can take them to your local animal shelter. This is not the first time Chef Carmen is advocating animal rights: On “Top Chef Masters” Chef Carmen raised $10,000 for her charity, ASPCA. Way to go Chef Carmen!
Jeter’s Favorite Sweet Potato Chips
Heat oven to 200°F with two racks.
Line two baking pans with parchment paper.
Slice potato crosswise, as thin as you can.
Arrange the slices on the baking pans (keep them from touching each other).
Cook for around 40-50 minutes.
Turn chips over, and rotate baking sheets.
Cook 30 to 40 more minutes or until slices are crisped and the edges and the centers are still orange, but not brown.
Remove from oven, and cool chips on baking pans.
Chips will be soft when removed from oven but will crisp when they cool.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
