I got the chance recently to read A Dog’s Purpose, a book that is told from the perspective of a dog! I started reading the book and could not put it back down!
First, I got pulled into the story of a sweet dog named Toby who was rescued by an animal lover who, while good hearted, wasn’t doing things according to the rules. Then suddenly Toby’s story ended in the saddest of ways (euthanized). Then all of the sudden, that same sweet dog was born again into a new incarnation!
The book follows the dog through various lives as he tries to figure out his true purpose. He has some amazing adventures along the way, and even ponders the usefulness of cats, and other deep questions of a dog’s life. Always though, he is searching for his greater purpose. In the end, he does finally find what he is looking for, and it will touch your heart.
Endearing, funny, and a bit of a tear jerker too, this is a great book. A must read for anyone who loves, or has been loved by, a dog.
Written by New York Times bestselling humor author W. Bruce Cameron, the book was inspired in part by his daughter’s work with Nikeno’s Second Chances in Denver, an animal charity that rescues and rehabilitates the most difficult to place animals. A Dog’s Purpose not only entertains, but educates humans about the most crucial issues in animal rescue.
I suggest that you put this book on your to-read list right away. But you don’t have to wait to get the book to see inspiring stories about dogs! Visit the A Dog’s Purpose website for all kinds of dog related goodness. You can even submit your dog as “Dog of the Week”!
