Rescue Spotlight: Crest Care

When I designed my first website several years ago (Aimee’s Animals) the goal was to help animals find homes. The internet evolved, and this site was created with a bigger, better vision, but the goal remained the same… help animals find homes through promoting rescue groups.

Rescue Spotlight is going to be an ongoing feature here where we hope to highlight rescue groups to help them get more exposure online. Our first Rescue Spotlight is Crest Care.

As their name suggests, they are a rescue group that is devoted to Chinese Crested dogs. They do wonderful work finding homes for this special breed. If you aren’t familiar with the breed, most of the “Ugliest Dogs in the World” have been hairless Chinese Cresteds. Personally I find the breed charming and have always wanted one, but they do have some breed specific problems that can make it harder for them to get placed in forever homes.

Here is the Crest Care mission statement:

We are a group of individuals living across the United States and Canada, whose goals are to preserve and protect Chinese Cresteds in need. We provide vetting, transportation, and foster homes for each dog in need, until he or she can be carefully matched to an approved home. We provide education about the breed to private individuals interested in adopting, and to shelters as well, in an effort to help ensure the integrity of the breed as a whole. We are involved in Crest-Care, Inc. for no other reason than our concern for Chinese Cresteds in need. We realize our limitations in that we cannot save them all, but working together, we help those we can. We work within the framework of local and civil laws, in order to protect both dogs and all parties concerned.

If you have been looking for a furry (or not so furry) addition to your family and think that a Chinese Crested would be a good fit, please visit Crest Care and look into rescue!
