BSL (Breed-Specific Legislation) is the canine equivalent of racial profiling, banning certain dog breeds that have been labeled “dangerous.” I’m Tired of – (ITo) is on a mission to help put an end to it
According to information gathered by Best Friends Animal Society, the charity beneficiary of funds raised by ITo, “cities around the country are passing bills to round up and kill family pets, who simply look like the kind of dog who might attack someone.” ITo, the company behind the popular philanthropic, eco friendly bracelets which raise money for important world causes, has introduced a new “I’m Tired of BSL” bracelet. The goal is to raise funds to stop the proliferation of BSL. The bracelets sell for $10 and half of that ($5) will be donated to Best Friends to support their campaign against BSL.
“The breeds most often affected by BSL are Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Chow Chows and even German Shepherds, those who tend to get the most attention in the media for dog fighting and attacks,” said Dan Hoffman, ITo co-founder and animal rights activist. “Focusing on the breeds, instead of putting the blame where it belongs — on the individual dogs and their irresponsible owners — is discrimination in no uncertain terms. And, those who wind up suffering are the innocent dogs, who are euthanized or separated from their loving families, and the upstanding owners, who have registered their pets and trained them to be good canine citizens.”
The “I’m Tired of…” campaign was launched less than a year ago by brother and sister team, Dan Hoffman and Carrie Pollare, to fight against the world’s issues that we are all tired of, like animal cruelty, discrimination, world hunger, global warming, cancer, diabetes and so many more. The fashionable bracelets are made from recycled tires and metals, creating a fun play on the word, tired, and cost just $10, so anyone can afford them. Then half the sale ($5) from each one is donated to charities the company is aligned with that support each cause. ITo recently also introduced an “I’m Tired of Animal Cruelty” t-shirt.
