Ferris, TX authorizes the use of shotguns to kill feral canines
If someone were to tell you that your local police department was given authorization to shoot dogs in town, undoubtedly you would question such actions, both for the lack of safety and compassion. However, that is what recently happened in Ferris, Texas, after City Manager David Chavez handed down a policy which would permit officers kill feral dogs utilizing shotguns.
This is just horrible news, and I hope that you will all visit the entire article on the Best Friends website so you can learn how to help. It is so hard to understand how a “solution” like this one could ever come to pass, especially when you factor in that lost dogs and other dogs could be harmed. Not to mention the impact on the people who may witness such shootings. Just awful!
