What a great book, I’m fostering a shelter puppy now. My stepsister runs a no-kill shelter and they’re overrun with dogs right now so I’ve taken in a puppy for a week. She’s such a cutie! I’m not sure I’m going to be able to give her back in a week, but I already have two overgrown shelter dogs and my house is small. Talk to me in a week, I think my heart’s going to be broken.

This sounds like a wonderful book. I became more aware of rescued animals and the wonderful people who help them after Hurricane Katrina. People from all over the country flew to the New Orleans area to help and they saved many animals with love and care.
all of my animals are rescue and I have found over the years they make the best most loving pals. they seem to sense that you care about them and they return your love over and over again.
My rescue dog is a certified therapy dog loves to give love to the residents of nursing, veterans and children’s homes.

This sounds like a wonderful book. You see far too many people take on pets that they can’t take care of and many of them end up in shelters as a result. It’s truly a sad situation. What a great book
I rescued two cats myself; I was at Animal Control looking for a friend’s lost dog (just in case) and saw a young guy at the desk with two cardboard boxes in front of him and he was talking to the attendant and crying. He was saying that he wanted to board his cats there, and the Humane Society wouldn’t do it, but the lady was telling him that he could only pay $35 to have the cats euthanized (and he’d said one was blind!). He said his girlfriend was waiting in his van, crying too, and that they had boarded the cats there before. I stepped up and said I’d take them (even though I was allergic to cats! – if it didn’t work out for me I’d find someone else to take them!). The attendant said that we weren’t even allowed to talk about me taking them on their premises (not even in the lot outside!) and I said, “This is America, aren’t we allowed to talk ANYWHERE?”
but then he and I moved out vehicles onto the street and he ssaid that he and his girlfriend were now living in his
working van and were worried that the cats would be too cold in it! They said they would phone periodically but they phoned just twice (the girl, she was the one who was having the most trouble giving the cats away) and then I never heard from them again. The cats were named Jello and Skinny Momma so I knew the kids probably didn’t have much food! I renamed them Kittica and Cuddly Kitty, a daughter and her mother, and I proved NOT to be allergic to them because they were Russian Blue cats (I didn’t know these were non-allergenic). The daughter ALWAYS loved the mother and they would lie on the bed with their top and bottom feet touching in the shape of a heart! The mother passed away last year at the age of 14 (she was the blind one) and I still have Kittica.
