Our sweet, sick, pup.

Our poor little Maltese, Baby, sure has been going through a rough time the past 6 months. Around Christmas time Baby started to have blood in her stools. Of course we all panicked and took her to the vet. The vet didn’t seem too worried, but they ran a bunch of tests just to rule out a parasite or a blockage. The tests all came back looking great (well, they did discover that she has major problems with her hips during the x-rays, something they weren’t even looking for).
At any rate, we cook her a special diet at home (for her liver) and her diet hasn’t changed at all, so we don’t suspect it’s what she is eating. She was treated with steroids, but it didn’t keep it from happening. She will go for a few weeks without any trouble, but then it seems to always come back (and it seems painful, she has a hard time trying to get it all out and goes several times an hour).
I know this is all kind of gross, but we sure could use any help or advice you can offer. We plan to take her to another vet for a second opinion, but we don’t really want to subject her to all of those tests again if we can avoid it. Something needs to be done though, this really can’t be normal for her.

awww poor sweet Baby. I am so sorry you are all going through this. I have no advice just virtual hugs. It is so hard when the ones closest to us are ill.
Sending slobbery poochy hugs to Baby and hoping that she is feeling better soon. My first thought was colitis as well. I have it myself so I know what its like. : (
The chiropractic adjustment should be your first step since the nerves to her digestive track could be cut off. I hope she feels better soon! Keep us posted!

Did your vet say if it was colitis? Does it look like raspberry jam (not to be gross)
1st.. if she has trouble with her hips, get her adjusted chiropractically. Being out of whack can affect digestion etc. Many times just being adjusted will fix something like this.
2nd. if it is colitis, try Yucca Extract. It’s a natural anti-inflammitory.. a friend tried it with her bulldog who would have colitis flare ups and this did the trick.. I’m not trying to sell you anything but I do sell the brand that she tried. Email me and I can get you some..
3rd. What is her special diet? Does she get yogurt or kefir?
