Surfing- week ending Friday 1/11
Animal news and fun from around the web.
- Terry Irwin is launching a whale study mission to debunk the myth about needing to kill whales to study them.
- Animal Planet is teaming up with Petfinder.com to have a reality show. This show will help match pets with families, and help spread the word about rescue.
- Animal Planet has a cute blog called the Daily Cuddle. As you can imagine from the title, it features an adorable animal photo everyday.
- Wayne Pacelle of the Humane Society wrote an interesing article about a hoax website. Thank goodness the site is a hoax, but it does expose a very real, and sad, problem.
- Therapy dogs are being deployed to Iraq. The Poodle and Dog Blog has the full scoop.
- This website, PETA Kills Animals, has a lot of interesting information. I had heard a report that they were charged with killing and dumping strays in garbage bins behind bigger businesses, but it looks like they are up to a lot more than just that. It’s worth checking out.
- Some of the victims in the Micheal Vick case have a happy ending. 22 of 47 dogs arrived at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary on the 4th of January. You can read the full story on their website, and find out how you can help them with their great work.
- More news from Best Friends; they have teamed up with the National Geographic Channel to make a TV serires called Dogtown. It’s all about the work they do at the sanctuary, and will hopefully give their organization more exposure and help them help more animals.
And just to remind you of the wild animals we should try to save, here is an adorable photo of a baby panda!

It’s def. worth checking out.
Hello, how is the cute animal? I am writing to ask for your help to join private testing on a new social networking website called VOOEASY.com. The site just released its private beta version for limited testing on January 1. We need some early users to join and help make this site better, together.
VooEasy is an innovative social network site which is very different to Facebook and MySpace. It allows people to “speak up” as *TEAMS* rather than individuals. For instance, I am Asian American, and a full-time software engineer. I am also a member of a community baseball team Richmond Colts, as well as a singer in the local choir. I can choose to speak up as myself, or “on behalf of” Richmond Colts, or a member of the choir. I can created teams for each of these life circles (and spent some time to design cool team “VooCards” for each team) and invite my people to join the respective teams. The teams don’t need to be big. For example, I have a brother and a sister at home, and so I also created a team called “the Chang brother and sisters”.
VooEasy’s headline is “show all the colors in your life.”. All of these are totally separate circles of friends. VooEasy will be the first place to integrate them all into ONE. Try it! You’ll be surprised how much fun it gets.
For now, VooEasy will only provide a total of 5 (five) beta test accounts for readers of this pet`s pics forum. Please follow the following URL to receive the testing beta code to try this site.

If you are early enough to be one of the early users, don’t waste it. You can actually “spawn” out other invitation letter. There will be no limit on the number of invitations you can send. So, please be generous. You can send out invitation emails to friends and family, and everyone can start playing on VooEasy!
Thanks for taking time to read this message. We really appreciate your help.
Hey everybody, my sheep Gloria just gave birth to twins! One is a boy and one is a girl. Their names are Floppy and Curiosity. I’m sooo happy and excited. My dog absolutely LOVES them and watches over them at night too.
Hey everybody, my sheep Gloria just gave birth to twins! One is a boy and one is a girl. Their names are Floppy and Curiosity. I’m sooo happy and excited. My dog absolutely LOVES them and watches over them at night too. This is Gloria’s first time with twins. Usually she just has one baby so I wasn’t sure if she would except them or not. But she does and
she’s really protective over them. They’re sooo cute!! Just wanted to tell everybody because I’m soooo excited!

When everyone else was following the romances of movie stars, I was following the romances of pandas in captivity to see if they could produce a little panda. The baby is totally adorable.
