Review: Great Dog Site

What is Great Dog Site all about? It’s a place for dog lovers, created by dog lovers. Most of all, it’s a directory where you can find out information on various dog breeds. This is a wonderful way to get acquainted with a specific breed you may be interested in adding to your family to be sure it’s a great fit.

They are also adding new features for site users, such a review section and a wiki where people can contribute to the site. Like they say in their about us, “we can’t own all the dogs we cover. Who better to inform others than you?”

Of course I had to look up our favorite breed, the Maltese. There was information like appearance, size and weight, temperament (cheerful and picky eaters, both of which are true), health, origin of the breed, maintenance (very good to know before choosing certain breeds), and their ideal environment. There were also photos of the breed added by other site users, which I thought was a really nice feature.

You can tell that this site is going to be a good resource. They have a great idea, a place for dog lovers to come together and post information about the breeds that they love. I also think it is a valuable tool in the fight against homeless pets because if more people really researched the kind of dog they wanted to add to their family first, they may find a more suitable match, thereby cutting down on the amount of abandoned dogs for reasons like not getting along with kids, or growing too big, or needing too much grooming.
